Poems from Cecília Jorge to Macau.
Cecília Jorge's poetry is one of those that gives a particular resonance to the expression "colonial wound". (...) Cecília Jorge confronts us with the radicality of the experience of loss that her poetic diction summons, in a lyrical register of a deceptive serenity. (...) This volume is precious for the information it carries about the Macanese community, the nostalgic evocation of places, rites, atmospheres; for the lucidity and clarity of the analysis that underpins the wounded but still generous balance of (our) imperial past (...) In this weeping for Macau and offered to Macau, which we understand as a ritual gesture of oblation, an immemorial function of singing is resumed in a female voice. Cecília Jorge offers us, and the community of which she is a part and which she calls to the front, the sublimation of a tragic fate, the conjuration of a loss, through the dilution of a problematic identity, marked by the contradictions and difficulties of history.
